Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team closes 44Cup Nanny Cay with solid progress and eyes set on Porto Cervo

Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team concluded its participation in the 44Cup Nanny Cay after a final day in which all races were completed under ideal wind conditions, with 15-18 knots and bright sunshine.
In this setting, the team demonstrated significant progress in their performance, solidifying their competitive ability against a high-level fleet.
From the start of the day, the team opted for an initial setup with the J3 jib for the first races before switching to the J2 jib in the second race, adapting to the changing conditions on the racecourse. This adjustment allowed them to maintain a stable performance, particularly excelling in starts and the first windward mark roundings, where they managed to compete head-to-head with the top contenders in the class.
In the final race of the event, a tight strategic battle between Charisma and Aleph Racing decided the title, while new teams like GeMera and Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team used the day to continue gaining experience and refining their coordination within the fleet.
A growing team, looking ahead to Porto Cervo
Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team leaves Nanny Cay with the satisfaction of having completed all the races and with key learnings that will strengthen their development ahead of the next stop on the circuit in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, from May 15-18.
"We have completed a very demanding event, facing some of the best crews in the world. While the results do not yet reflect our full potential, we leave with a great experience and the certainty that with our own boat in the next event, we will be able to compete under better conditions," highlighted tactician Alfredo González.
As the 44Cup fleet continues to grow and evolve, Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team reaffirms its commitment to this project as a platform for talent development, integrating young prospects alongside experienced sailors to establish itself as a reference team in the class.
The 44Cup circuit will continue in Porto Cervo, where the team will have its new boat, designed and optimised for their needs, with the goal of closing the gap and becoming a serious contender in the overall standings.
