After an opening day without racing due to strong winds exceeding 25 knots, the 44Cup Nanny Cay finally kicked off with a spectacular second day of competition. The wind remained strong, ranging from 18 to 28 knots with shifts of up to 40 degrees, demanding the highest level of tactical and technical precision from all teams.

A team on the rise

For the Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team the day was a testament to the hard work put in during training. Flawless communication and fluid manoeuvres allowed the team to handle the challenges of the circuit with confidence, executing strong starts in each race. While the overall results don't yet reflect the competitiveness of the more experienced teams in the class, the crew has demonstrated character and determination on the racecourse, showing glimpses of a rising contender in the fleet.

From the very start, the team excelled in their approaches to the first mark, often positioning themselves among the frontrunners in the early stages of each race. While there is still progress to be made to consistently fight for top positions, the team's growth is undeniable. The intense training sessions have helped fine-tune coordination and speed in manoeuvres - key elements in a demanding day like today.

"We are happy with the work we are doing on the water. The conditions were tough, but we sailed well, with good starts and continuous improvement in each leg. We know that the 44Cup is an incredibly challenging circuit, but we are here to compete and prove that we belong at this level," said Alfredo González after the day's racing.

The 44Cup Nanny Cay continues

The stunning setting of Nanny Cay continues to offer ideal sailing conditions, with clear skies, steady winds and a fleet of nine teams battling for the title. The French team Aleph Racing was the standout performer of the day, securing two race victories and taking the overall lead, closely followed by Charisma and Team Ceeref Vaider.
