San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC) and Etchells Fleet 13 will host the 2025 Etchells North American Championship May 14-18, 2025. Set in San Diego's ocean venue, Coronado Roads, this event promises exciting racing and world-class hospitality. The event expects to see over 50 boats registered for this year's event.

The North Americans (NAs) are the lead up to the 2026 Etchells Worlds, to be held in San Diego May 10-15, 2026. Competitors intending to compete in the Worlds may want to consider attending the North Americans to become familiar with the venue.

While there are no pre-qualifying events for the NAs, competitors are encouraged to participate in other Etchells events such as the Etchells West Coast Spring Series, also hosted by SDYC. The series kicked off in January and continues through April, finishing just before the North Americans in May.

An exciting addition to this year's championship is the partnership between Etchells and Vakaros, the creator of RaceSense—an advanced race management tool designed to bring precision and automation to sailing events. Using GPS-based technology, RaceSense enables real-time tracking, automated starting sequences, and accurate enforcement of race rules on the water. Each boat in the North Americans will be equipped with this cutting-edge tool.

"The Etchells fleet is one of the most intense, competitive groups out there, and we're pumped to be part of it. With RaceSense, we're giving competitors the real-time data and insights they need to fine-tune their strategy and elevate their game on the water," said Will Huerth, Global Sales Director at Vakaros.

NAs Principal Race Officer Michael Foster echoed the enthusiasm for the tool, emphasizing its game-changing benefits. "The best part is there will be no penalty flags, and all races will start under a P flag. That means no General Recalls. If a boat is over early, they'll be notified immediately instead of waiting for a radio call. Sailors will compete in every race without the risk of sitting out under a U or Black flag start."

In addition to well-organized and competitive racing on the water, SDYC will host a lively lineup of social events, including a welcome reception, a happy hour social, and a dinner fit for all Champions on Saturday. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony where one team will be awarded the coveted Bill Lynn Trophy and will be crowned as the 2025 Etchells North American Champions.

Join us for an unforgettable weekend of competitive sailing and camaraderie in a world-class venue. Register now! Early bird pricing is good through April 15.
