A record number of 286 entries will see 317 sailors hit the water to compete at Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week 2025, incorporating the 2025 29er Asian Championship next week in Hong Kong. 12 countries and regions will be represented including Canada, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), Italy, Greece, Guam, Japan, Mainland China, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, and the USA.
Running from 11 to 16 February, a great week of fierce competition is anticipated, showcasing Asian sailing at its best.
Organised by Hong Kong Sailing Federation in conjunction with Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (and for the 2025 29er Asian Championship, the International 29er Class Association), racing will be conducted from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's Middle Island water sports training centre on the south side of Hong Kong Island.
Raced in 11 classifications over three racecourses, the regatta is held on Hong Kong's renowned world-class racetracks, which have previously played host to the 2023 and 2024 29er Asian championship, 2018 29er World Championship, the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race Leg 4 Stopover, the 2017 Optimist Asian & Oceania Championship and the 2015 Etchells World Championship.
Olympians Stephanie Norton (Tokyo 2020) and Nicholas Halliday (Paris 2024) (both from Hong Kong, China) will be competing in the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 classes, respectively. Meanwhile in the 2025 29er Asian championship, defending champion Tiffany Mak will team up for the first time with her brother Raphael Mak - renew their rivalry Cameron Law and Christopher Lam, as well as Louis Polson and Ethan Kiu, who will try to get in among the spoils. Some formidable racing will be on display with Kevin Cason and Holland Vierling of the USA competing in their first 29er Asian Championship, fresh from taking the U17 3rd place the 2024 29er World Championship.
