SB20 World Championship 2025 in Singapore Day 4

by Peak Production / Viola Devoti and Matteo Garrone 23 Jan 22:05 PST 18-25 January 2025

Day 4 of the SB20 World Championship had everything: shifty, light winds that tested everyone's patience, heroic efforts by the Race Committee to squeeze in two races and a truly emotional milestone for one special family.

The top three teams held firm on the leaderboard today. Team Xcellent, led by John Pollard, continues to dominate with 41 points. In second place, Team Porco Rosso, skippered by Paul McCartney, sits with 57 points, followed by Youth Team FF Voile with Paul Loiseau in third, holding 66 points. The competition among the leaders remains fierce as we edge closer to the final showdown.

Today was unforgettable for the Borghesi family who are competing with three boats in this championship. In an incredible twist father and son each won a race!?Ten-year-old William Borghesi, the youngest skipper in the event, led his team Wind Warriors to their second race victory of the regatta. Not long after, his father, Paolo Borghesi, skipper of Team KODA, took a win of his own. This double triumph turned the day into a family affair that left everyone smiling and inspired.

"It's been an amazing day, we have three boas here, and we both won one race today, and my wife Charlotte, who is the best sailor in the family, for once had a worse result than us!" - said excited Paolo Borghesi.

The Borghesi family's third boat, KidzInk, skippered by mom Charlotte Borghesi, is keeping the family competitive at the top of the leaderboard, currently sitting in sixth overall. Their passion for sailing, teamwork, and the unique dynamic they bring to the championship has captured everyone's hearts.

The Day Ends with Smiles All Around

After the day's racing the teams swapped their SB20s for remote-controlled boats in a lighthearted regatta organized by the Race Committee. The evening was full of laughter, friendly rivalries and fantastic prizes, reminding everyone that while the competition is serious, the spirit of camaraderie and fun makes this event truly special.

With just one day left in the championship all eyes are on the water as teams prepare for the final push. Will the leaderboard shift or will Team Xcellent hold strong until the end?

Stay tuned for more updates as the SB20 World Championship takes its final turn!
