Clarification on Formula Wing Registered Equipment Scheme

by IWSA WingFoil Racing 23 Jan 05:37 PST

In response to a number of questions received after publishing the updated IWSA Formula Wing Class Rules:

The IWSA registered series production scheme is currently being developed with World Sailing and not live yet.

All brands that are currently producing equipment will be able to register their equipment with a simple declaration.

Final details of the registration process will be discussed between World Sailing, IWSA and the brands on a townhall call in February.

We expect the registered equipment list to go live beginning of March and expect that it will include all of the currently used equipment (and equipment getting on the market till then).

For the avoidance of a doubt, it is NOT necessary to buy equipment from a specific brand. This is NOT a one design class, our intention is to keep the whole industry involved in the class.

Any registration requirements only apply for wings and foils. Boards remain at this stage unregulated (except from dimensional limitations in the class rules).

The Formula Wing Class Rules have been updated to reflect these clarifications. They can be found here.
