Solo class Southern Area 2025 Super Spars Traveller Series is announced

The 2024 Solo Southern Area Series comprised ten events with 143 sailors taking part in at least one of them. Papercourt SC hosted the last event of the series where we had the prize-giving for the 2024 Southern Area winners.

2024 overall results:

1st Alex Butler (Hayling Island SC)
2nd Ian Matthews (Spinnaker SC)
3rd Ian Barnett (Chichester SC)
4th Patrick Ward (Chipstead SC)
5th Fraser Hayden (Papercourt SC)

The 2025 series will feature eleven events with four events to qualify, take note of the dates so you don't miss out!

2025 series:

  • 12 April (Saturday): Spinnaker SC
  • 11 May (Sunday): Frensham Pond SC
  • 17 & 18 May: Hayling Island SC - Joint with HISC Solo Tyler Trophy.
  • 24 May (Saturday): Bough Beach SC
  • 31 May & 1 June: Area Champs @ Lymington Town SC & Training Day Friday 30th May.
  • 14 June (Saturday): Chipstead SC - Joint event with Thames Valley)
  • 28 June (Saturday): Dell Quay SC
  • 5 July (Saturday): Felpham SC
  • 13 July (Sunday): Hill Head SC
  • 12 October (Sunday): Littleton SC - Joint event with Thames Valley)
  • 25 October (Saturday): Papercourt SC - Joint event with Thames Valley & Final Series Prize Giving

Series concludes with an overall win for Mark Maskell South-southeast is a very unusual wind direction for our part of the country. We get south-easts, blowing out of the dinghy park which offers good racing courses and sometimes due southerly, blowing over the southern weir at FGSC which is excellent. Western Series concludes with surprisingly mild temperatures for this late in the year Salcombe Yacht Club hosted the final western event of the season and the 31 competitors enjoyed surprisingly mild temperatures for this late in the year. Last event of the series Once again the Scottish Solo fleet travelled to Dalgety Bay Sailing Club for the last event of the 2025 series.
