The Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new junior measurers, Sam Masterman and John Galliard, to support the measurement team in Antigua. This critical role is essential to ensuring the integrity and fairness of sailing competitions throughout the region.

With a network of measurers spanning the Caribbean, the CSA recognizes the importance of maintaining a robust measurement team. As some of our experienced measurers age out, we are committed to training local talent to step into these vital positions. Sandy Mair, a measurer for more than 40 years, has been instrumental in this process, mentoring and equipping the next generation of measurers with the training and skills needed to take on the role.

CSA President Bastien Pouthier says, "Sam Masterman and John Gaillard will be taking on their new responsibilities in the coming months, working closely with our existing experienced measurement team in Antigua to ensure a smooth transition."

St. Lucian born and Antiguan National John Gaillard has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and assisted the IODA as the measurement team for the Optimist Worlds and regional championships and has now advanced to big boat measuring. He has been working in the Marine Industry for 20 years. Sam is a previous British born superyacht captain with a degree in yacht design and now residing in Antigua, working with Woodstock Boatbuilders as a project manager.

For boat owners planning to race in the Caribbean this season the updated rules are now available online at www.Caribbean-Sailing.com. Any boats wishing to apply for measurement should do so via the online application and payment process here: www.caribbean-sailing.com/apply-for-measurement. After completing the online application and payment, our measurement team will promptly reach out to coordinate the necessary arrangements.

As the Caribbean sailing season unfolds, we are excited about the upcoming events, which promise thrilling racing from Barbados taking place right now to the Northern Caribbean. We are particularly enthusiastic about a new event in Martinique and the new Windies Multihull Trophy created to encourage more participation by multihulls across the region.
