2024 Petersville Regatta at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron - Day 3

by Alex Dare, Down Under Sail 29 Dec 2024 16:07 PST 27-30 December 2024

Competition is heating up at the 2024 Petersville Regatta, hosted by Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron, after some glamour racing on the penultimate day of the regatta.

The Day 3 format saw a couple of races during the day, followed by a break ashore and a twilight race later on, giving the three cruising fleets and the sportsboat division plenty of opportunity to maximise the excellent conditions.

Damien Cody from Way 2 Go said "To have 50 or 60 great boats from around the bay join us down here for four days of fantastic competition, we love it".

In Cruising Division 1 Peter Jackson's Niche sits atop the ORC standings after four races, while Paul Jackson's BKT JAMHU sits in first on AMS and Peter Little's Adrenalin leads the PH standings.

In Cruising Division 2 it's Cameron Barwick's Rawhide that leads both the ORC and AMS standings, while Calum Brenan's Celeste has the lead in the PH division.

Wayne Mercer's Aye Sea Red leads Cruising Division 3's ORC standings, while Alistair Singh's Pending leads AMS and Tracey De Poi's Element 22 has the lead in the PH standings.

In the Sportsboat division, Andrew Colliver's Cobra24 heads into the final day with a two-point lead after six races on CBH, while he's tied for the lead on PH with Tom Opie's The Peanut Gallery.

Opie said he had been pushing to have more sportsboats at the club for a few years.

"It's great to finally have our own division and it's great to have so many boats here," he said.
