At just before midnight UTC, Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA rounded Cape Horn, the last of the great capes in the Vendee Globe race.
In doing so, he smashed Armel Le Cleac'h's previous record set on the 2016 Vendée Globe. The previous reference from les Sables d’Olonne was 47 days, 34 minutes, 46 seconds. Richomme completed the passage in 43 days, 11 hours, 25 minutes, 20 seconds, so he has shaved 3 days, 13 hours, 9 minutes and 26 seconds off the record.
The battle with Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance was intense all the way across the Pacific Ocean with the lead changing multiple times. In the end Dalin rounded just 9 minutes and 30 seconds behind.
As always, we bring you the latest tracking, leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for Richomme.
We also bring you Christmas messages from Sam Goodchild and Sam Davies.
