The JOG Yacht Racing community gathered to honour the achievements of the 2024 season at its Annual Awards Ceremony, held at Southampton's esteemed five-star Harbour Hotel, with sponsorship from MDL Marinas.
The JOG Offshore Yacht Racing Club proudly named Oli Hawkins as the winner of the Generation JOG Youth Challenge, while the prestigious Yacht of the Year award was claimed by 'Sailfish'. Hawkins and the Generation JOG crew led their class with impressive skill and teamwork, securing their top position.
The Generation JOG youth programme was established to foster and advance the next generation of sailors, aiming to bridge the gap between youth dinghy sailing and offshore keelboat racing. Open to participants aged 30 and under, the initiative supports both newcomers to the sport and existing members. These awards demonstrate the programme's success in equipping young sailors with the resources and guidance needed to excel.
Stuart Lawrence, Captain of JOG, underscored the importance of the Generation JOG programme, stating, "The future of our club, and many others, rests in the hands of the upcoming generations. We are dedicated to providing accessible pathways for younger sailors to engage, ensuring our club continues to thrive for years to come."
