The 2024 RS600 National Tour, generously supported by Rooster, took the fleet to a few new locations and introduced some new faces to the class!

The tour saw an average entry of 12 boats per event with 17 boats at the RS 30th Regatta, Sailboat Deliveries Riva Garda and Noble Marine Nationals!

The tour was originally planned to start in April at Oxford however Storm Kathleen had other ideas cancelling open meetings across the country. Fast forward a few weeks to May, the fleet met for the RS 30th Anniversary Regatta, with the 3rd largest of the noughties fleets before some of the fleet headed off to Garda. Jamie showed his light wind expertise to take the win with George closely behind in 2nd.

Once returned from Garda, those who had collected their boats from Sailboat Deliveries made their way up to Carsington for the Inlands where the racing was very close up until the last moment. Jamie was heading into the lead into Day 2 but with a slightly better forecast on Day 2, George grabbed the win putting the two on equal points.

After a summer break, the fleet made their way to Eastbourne for the Nationals. With the first 2 days giving us a northerly breeze, the conditions were tricky. Jamie showed us his Notts County weird shift experience to come out in the lead after the first 2 days but Day 3 and 4 were looking to give us a new challenge with a sea breeze spilling around Beachy Head. However, that didn't make it any easier with 3 different race winners at the end of the day meaning Jamie had scored the title with a race to spare and put himself into the lead of the Rooster National Tour.

For those who still had some energy in them, they made their way up north to Notts County a few weeks later. Sadly, the forecast was on the lighter side but did deliver into the afternoon with some challenging conditions. Jamie got stuck in traffic on Day 1 and got the start time wrong on Day 2, but that didn't stop him showing his local knowledge and just beating Jake Willars all down to the final race.

Our last stop of the tour was supposed to be at Rutland for the End of Seasons, but the forecast was not cooperating, so the decision was made to end the tour early. This means Jamie took the title from George to become National Tour Champion!

With 31 entries, we had a great National Tour. Next year is looking great already with events already scheduled at Bough Beech, Oxford, Grafham and Rutland, and of course the Nationals at the beautiful and exciting Mounts Bay. Stay tuned for the rest of the calendar that will get published soon. Thank you to Rooster for the continued support in making the Tour even better.
