Virtual Regatta, the Vendée Globe for everyone

by Vendee Globe Media 8 Nov 2024 20:58 AEDT

The solo, non-stop round-the-world race without assistance, the Vendée Globe is not just for hard bitten sailors. Thanks to Virtual Regatta, the official game, it is possible to compete in the Vendée Globe from home whilst experiencing the some of the real conditions that the skippers encounter at sea. On this 10th edition edition of the race new innovations and features have improved the whole experience.

Virtual Regatta has established itself as a new way to follow and experience the iconic round-the-world race. The world leader in eSailing, Virtual Regatta has now launched a new edition with hundreds of thousands of players. During the 2020 edition of the Vendée Globe, more than a million players took part in this unique experience. Already as of today the game has seen 20% more registrations compared to the same period in 2020, evidence of the growing enthusiasm for virtual competition.

The Marina Virtual Regatta Offshore

The Marina Virtual Regatta Offshore marks a turning point in the world of virtual sailing. Thanks to a complete overhaul of the game interface, players can now view and prepare their boats in a modern hangar. This totally innovative interactive 3D environment introduces an enhanced gaming experience that now goes well beyond simple sailing and navigation.

It's a much more authentic experience

In addition, this year, players will have to deal with a new strategic aspect. Players will have to focus on energy management, in particular by using new consumables such as coffee shots or full meals. They will be able to integrate new equipment such as a furler, a beanbag or choosing whether to wear a big jacket on watch. All these elements have an impact on the skipper's fatigue, which will make the experience even closer to reality.

A redesigned community hub

In addition to technical innovations, the Marina strengthens the link between eSkippers around the world. This space allows you to follow the evolution of the competitions live and share highlights with the community. The implementation of a new ranking interface, soon to be enhanced with league systems and new championships, provides a better classification of races, whether real, virtual or historical.
