Conrad Colman grew up in New Zealand, went to High School and College in America, and then immediately went to Europe having fallen in love with the Vendée Globe.
Well travelled and highly experienced in many fields, Conrad is used to wearing many hats, which stands him in good stead for solo offshore sailing!
This is his second Vendée Globe, having competed in 2016/17 where he completed the final 740 miles to Les Sables d’Olonne under jury rig after being dismasted.
This is also the second time he is competing with a boat which is entirely fossil fuel free, powered entirely by renewable energy. When he finished the 2016/18 edition he was the first skipper to complete the Vendée Globe using no fossil fuels.
