2024 iQFOiL Youth & Junior World Championships at Sa Ràpita, Spain - Day 5

by iQFOiL Class Communications 1 Nov 2024 16:14 PDT 27 October - 2 November 2024

Out of the 375 young sailors from 35 nations, the top four athletes in Sa Ràpita, Mallorca, are Darcey Shaw (GBR), Federico Pilloni (ITA), Alba Klein (ISR) and Itamar Levi (ISR).

Due to a general alert issued by the Balearic Island authorities last night, racing was canceled today as heavy rains and storms swept over the island in the afternoon.

Despite the weather, we had the chance to meet the four leaders across the categories: U19 Women, U19 Men, U17 Women, and U17 Men. Currently in the lead are Darcey Shaw (GBR 309), Federico Pilloni (ITA 186), Alba Klein (ISR), and Itamar Levi (ISR). Itamar's fleet, the U17 Men, still has two qualifying races to complete before progressing to the Medal Series.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am tomorrow for the U17 Men, who will complete their final qualifying races on one course. Meanwhile, the Medal Series will commence at 10:30 am on the other course, starting with the U19 Women and alternating with the U19 Men. Once those races are concluded, it will be time for the U17 Women and Men to compete. Action on this course will be all streamed live on the iQFOiL Official YouTube Channel.

By this time tomorrow, we'll know the 2024 iQFOiL Youth & Junior World Champions.
