Bainbridge International acquires Ocean Rodeo assets from ALUULA Composites

by Bainbridge International 22 Oct 2024 09:14 PDT

Bainbridge International is delighted to announce it has today completed the acquisition of operating assets of Ocean Rodeo from Aluula Composites Inc.

Ocean Rodeo is one of the great innovating companies in the kite & wing sport markets, patenting several breakthrough products as well as being the launch brand for ALUULA Composites, a high-performance ultra-light composite fabric that revolutionised leading edge technology in inflatable wings and kites.

While the change of ownership is announced today, the 2025 product range is being readied for production and a projected date of March 2025 is targeted for availability for customers. The existing Ocean Rodeo designs have been completed under the supervision of Ross Harrington who served as the brands chief designer for over 20 years prior continuing his work with ALUULA, supporting the design efforts of their windsports customers. Ross will continue to support Bainbridge during the transition period ahead of the relaunch in 2025.

Bainbridge International, based near Southampton in the UK will provide commercial & customer support services alongside its other marine activities, which include being one of the world's leading sailcloth and technical fabrics companies.

David Mead will manage Ocean Rodeo, the culmination of a 30-year career which has seen him strategize and co-lead the North Kiteboard business, lead the Neil Pryde windsurfing brand and run the Pryde Group Manufacturing facility in China.

Commenting on the transaction, Sage Berryman, CEO & President of ALUULA said, "It gives us great pleasure to see the Ocean Rodeo brand in such capable hands for the future. As the launch brand for ALUULA, Ocean Rodeo is an important part of our history, and we look forward to continuing to work with David and the rest of his team as a customer of ALUULA."

David Mead, Managing Director, Ocean Rodeo said, "The opportunity to work with great brands doesn't come along very often and to be able to be an owner of a brand like Ocean Rodeo, which has literally changed the face of the sport, is a great honour. I'm looking forward to working with the team at Bainbridge to bring great product to all existing brand fans and hopefully some new ones too. We've got a lot of work to do to be ready for spring 2025 but I'm excited and motivated about the opportunity ahead and I can't wait to connect with Ocean Rodeo devotees around the world."
