On October 13th, Haversham lake was nearly as still as a mirror with wind conditions of 0-8 knots. This led to the race officer of the day to hold two races in the morning however cancel the third due to the lack of wind.

At the start of the first race you could find yourself easily buried if you weren't at the right place at the right time, this resulted in the following sailors, Alistair Goodwin (1304), Serena Stewardson (1083), Adrian Lumb (1325) and Luke Fisher (1163) to get notable starts ahead of the rest of the fleet. Most people opted to start on starboard at the pin end of the line which then gave the option to tack onto port and find a clean lane. Steve Johnson (1203), Alistair Goodwin, and Mike Malcom (1215) were the three boats to get away from the others after the windward mark however the rest of the fleet weren't too far behind.

During this race there were lots of little battles, including Daniel Stewardson (1309) trying to take over David Allen (536), however Dave wasn't going to give up easily and started to luff him up. As well as this, Alistair's lead didn't last for too long as he sailed into a hole allowing Richard Boutle (1060) and Adrian Lumb (1325) to catch up as the wind filled in from behind.

The first bullet of the day went to Adrian Lumb, with Alistair Goodwin and Richard Boutle behind.

Next was the second race where there was a bit more of a breeze however, only one boat (Mike Malcom) sailed the right course, as a result everyone else got pushed back a lap because they went round the buoy the wrong way. In this race, Tony Bleasdale (1254) seemed to excel in the lighter winds and go ahead with the race in third place behind Alistair. The mark 1 boats proved to be very competitive against the mark 2s, this showed when mark 1 sailor, Josh Beardshaw (520), came fourth in the second race and eighth overall making him the first mark 1 boat. Towards the end of the race, the wind started to drop again so the race officer finished the race to go in for lunch.

After a break for lunch, everyone started to prepare for a third and final race, however by this time the wind had completely gone leaving the lake still. This led to the race officer cancelling the third race and moving prize-giving forward.

The turnout of the event was really good with nine sailors from Emberton Park SC, twelve from Haversham SC, one from Attenborough SC, another one from Cotswold SC and Redditch SC, and lastly the furthest travelled going to Tony Bleasdale from Girton SC. The total number of supernovas on the water were twenty five. The overall results of the day were Alistair Goodwin in 1st place, Adrian Lumb in 2nd place, and Richard Boutle found himself in 3rd place. The next event will be on the 26th of October at Bowmoor Sailing Club.
