SailGP returns to Sydney Harbour in February

SailGP, the world's most exciting racing on water, returns to the iconic Sydney Harbour for a record sixth time this February. Tickets go on sale at midday (AEDT) tomorrow for one of Sydney's hottest sporting events of the summer, taking place on February 8-9, 2025.

As the third event of the global racing championship, which visits iconic cities around the world including New York, Auckland, Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles, the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney will deliver world-class race viewing, onshore entertainment, and much more.

Fans will not only witness adrenaline-fuelled racing, but enjoy premium hospitality i n one of the world's most beautiful backdrops. With a variety of ticketing options to appeal to audiences, there is something for everyone with a range of on-water and on-land fan experiences.

SailGP has confirmed its largest-ever F50 fleet will compete on Sydney Harbour next February, with 12 national teams on the startline comprising the best athletes i n the sport going head-to-head with national pride, personal glory and the largest prize purse in the sport all on the line.

SailGP fan experiences in Sydney include:

  • Waterfront Premium access on Shark Island, offering an unbelievable vantage of the racing close to shore, with prime front row viewing on the island, right in the middle of the course.
  • Official Spectator Boats to get you into the heart of the racing action, on the water
  • Bring Your Own Boat (BYOB) for recreational boat owners who want to watch the high-speed action on the water with live radio commentary

The 2025 iteration of the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney also sees the introduction of Dockside, a first-of-its-kind event where guests can enjoy an exclusive Friday night experience - the ultimate opener to the weekend of world-class racing and entertainment. Offering behind-the-scenes access to SailGP's pit lane style tech site on Glebe Island, guests will get up close and personal with SailGP's high-tech, F50 catamarans, alongside live DJ music, gourmet food and beverage, and a chance to mix and mingle with some of SailGP's biggest-name athletes.

Looking ahead to the summer celebration, SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson said, "Since Season 1, Sydney Harbour has provided the backdrop to one of SailGP's most i conic summer showcases, returning for the sixth time in 2025 — the longest-standing venue on our global calendar of events."

Thompson continued, "The KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney will feature world-class fan experiences, on land and on water, epic racing around Shark Island and for the first time ever, 12 national teams on the startline. Sydney Harbour is built for the stadium style, close-to-shore racing SailGP i s known for, and we can't wait to be back in February."

After an unbeaten three-year championship run, hometown heroes Tom Slingsby and the Australian SailGP Team will be out for redemption in the 2024/2025 Season, having been pipped by Spain in last season's Grand Final.

Australia Team Driver and CEO Tom Slingsby said: "There's nothing quite like competing on Sydney Harbour in front of our Aussie fans, friends and families, and the energy from Sydney's passionate crowds never disappoints.
