With wind from over the cafe and a 12 boat fleet the Bartons Point 'TT' course was used, with B rigs for 3 races, then A rigs. Mike Brand (875) won race 1 from the returning B rig maestro Adrian Tomlinson (30) and newbie Rob Maunder (571).

Dave Adams (358) then recovered with 2 of 5 wins, all in the first 7 races, to build a lead. Paul Woodward (20) found good rig settings and shifts to take wins in races 4 and 9, and Mike Brand came back from an 11th & 7th to win races 8 and 10.

Adrian had backed up his 2nd in race 1 with two more 2nds, but his A rig worked less well, getting on the podium just once more with a race five 3rd, though never below 6th. Peter Jackson (211) and Jim La Roche (57) were also in the fight for podiums, each with two 2nds, but Peter finishing stronger with two 3rds. Alan Hounsell (380) followed a 2nd in race 7 with two 3rds to hold off the consistently average Robert Owens (479) only ever threatening the podium with one 4th.

Dave could only get three 2nds in the last 4 races but that was enough to stay comfortably ahead of the fight between Mike, Adrian and Paul for 2nd overall, finishing in that order 3 points apart. Peters 3,2,3, finish put him 5 places back, level on points with Jim, but winning on countback. The last race was stunner for Ralph Wilkinson, improving on an average 7th place to win comfortably from Dave and Peter, and finish in 9th for the event.
