The Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club in Scotland is looking forward to hosting the final round of this year's RYA National Match Racing Series.

The event will take place over the weekend of 5-6 October 2024 and also incorporates the Scottish Student Sailing (SSS) Match Racing Championship.

Up to nine places are available for teams of 4/5 crew to #rockupandrace at Rhu, with an opportunity for the winners to then compete at the Grand Finals for the series in mid-October at London's Queen Mary Sailing Club.

Early bird entry is £320 per team and open until midday 18 September; it is then £350 per team until all entries close at 23:59 on 28 September 2024.

The 2023 edition of the Ceilidh Cup saw seven teams competing with Strathclyde University Sailing Club taking both the overall win and the SSS title.

The Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club is celebrating its bicentenary in 2024 and looking forward to welcoming teams from across Scotland and beyond.

Event Coordinator Eilidh Millar said: "The club's fleet of Sonars is ideal for competitive match racing and provides an even playing field in all weathers.

"We also have a perfect race area at East Patch, just off Helensburgh at the top of the Firth of Clyde, with good winds and a backdrop of stunning scenery.

"For university teams it's the first event on the student sailing calendar so it's a really good opportunity to see old friends, make new ones and rekindle old rivalries."

Both rookie and experienced teams are welcome to take part with the event traditionally offering a first taste of match racing for many university students.

The club and Scottish Student Sailing plan to offer optional training on the Friday, the day before the event starts, with boat handling and a rules talk.
