Southerly Yachts returns to Southampton International Boat Show over 13-22 September for a second year after being acquired in 2023 by Concept Yachts, a company renowned for supplying specialist build teams and personnel to the superyacht industry.

Southerly's range of swing keel blue water sailing cruisers continues to be built in Marchwood on the edge of the New Forest, directly over the water from the Southampton Boat Show site. At its build facility, Concept Yachts today applies the superyacht-calibre level of skills to the construction and fit-out the upgraded Southerly range, that won them the Superyacht Contractor of Year Award in 2022.

At Southampton Boat Show Southerly Yachts will be exhibiting on stand F080. Here owners, both existing and prospective, are welcome to stop by to touch base and hear about the company's latest plans.

Introducing the Southerly 580

2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of Southerly Yachts since it started life at Northshore Shipyard on Chichester Harbour in the 1970s. To celebration this significant birthday Southerly Yachts is introducing a new 580 50th Anniversary Model. This is based upon the much-loved Southerly 57, designed by the late Ed Dubois.

Visitors to the boat show can find out full details of this, substantially the largest globe-trotting cruiser in the Southerly Yachts range, which Concept Yachts has modernised and to which it has applied its superyacht construction and fit-out know-how. Naturally the 580 50th anniversary model will feature a lift keel enabling its range to be reduced to just 1.1m, thereby allowing access to the shallowest of anchorages while cruising and even the ability to dry out on its own bottom.

Full details on the 580 50th Anniversary Model will be revealed at its launch party on the Southerly stand F080 on Saturday 14 September at 1600, to which all visitors are welcome to attend.

VIP Experience

During the show, those interested in the Southerly range are invited to undertake its VIP Experience and visit Southerly Yacht's build facility. Currently under construction in Marchwood are two of Southerly's most popular models - the 420 and 480 - destined for clients in the Philippines and Dominican Republic.

While the 420 typically is fitted with a large en-suite cabin fore and aft, the example currently in build is the first to feature a three cabin layout, with twin cabins forward, sharing a head compartment, but with the same en suite master cabin forward as the two cabin arrangement. This development demonstrates the semi-custom approach Southerly can apply to its yachts to tailor them to new owners' exact requirements.

Visitors to Southerly Yachts in Marchwood can see for themselves the high quality of workmanship the Concept Yachts staff are applying to the Southerly range, along with the state of the art technology the company uses, including its own in-house milling machine to ensure the highest precision of construction.

Southerly Yachts' VIP Experience will be available during the show (13-22 September) and those interested can be picked up from within Southampton Boat Show itself by RIB, taken the short distance across the water to Marchwood and then returned to the show afterwards (weather permitting).

"We welcome Southerly owners and those interested in our yachts to our stand at the boat show," said Concept Yacht's CEO and founder Kevin Viles, who last year was voted Yacht & Marine Solutions CEO of the Year. "But those who really want to see how we are transforming Southerly Yachts should take up our VIP experience and come and visit us in Marchwood, a short RIB-ride from the show."

At Southampton Boat Show, Concept Yachts will also be showing for the first time its brand new range of Holdfast RIBs and introducing the Concept Marine Group, which, with Southerly Yachts, now comprises six companies.

Those interested in the Southerly Yachts VIP Experience during the show can find out more about it here.
