Ramsgate Week 2024 at the Royal Temple Yacht Club - Day 2

by Karen Cox 14 Aug 2024 22:56 AEST 11-16 August 2024

The day dawned hot and still and, after yesterday's abandoned racing, there were two 1-hour delays while we waited for the promised breeze to pick up.

The time check for 12.30 from the Race Hut signalled the commencement of the start sequence for the various classes, beginning with Class 7 who were sent on a course of 6.98 NMs from North to West Quern markers.

Courses for Classes 4 and 5 were just over 12 NMs incorporating further marks in the Gull Stream and W Goodwin. IRC classes had two spinnaker runs on the course towards Deal and back to Icon.

All classes finished on Line A. The wind had picked up to 17 knots and was at 22+ knots over the deck as the competitors finished. Champagne sailing for (almost) all with just a couple of retirements due to equipment failure.
