International 14 World Championship at Circolo Vela Torbole, Lake Garda, Italy - Day 6

by Harvey Hillary 8 Aug 2024 23:41 PDT 2-9 August 2024

Andy Shaw and Rob Struckett take the 2024 International 14 World Championship with a day to spare. The British team continued their faultless series with a steady 2nd place in tricky conditions at Torbole, Lake Garda.

The race was led from start to finish by Archie Massey and Harvey Hillary showing exceptional positional and gear changing skills. Behind, the fight was on for the podium places with the Australian team of Krstic and Lanati dicing it with Truswell and Fitzgerald.

Martin Jones and Harry Kennedy were having a great race, making their move on the second run as the pressure reloaded off the Torbole Cliffs. The gain was so big they nearly overtook the leaders but Massey and Hillary cooly repositioned into the leeward mark and extend again.

On the final beat, Shaw and Struckett managed to hold a lane inside Jones and take second. Behind Krstic and Lanati sailed a consistent race to finish 4th with Alex Knight and James Clark having their best race to finish 5th.

Tomorrow's final race will see a shoot out for 2nd and 3rd on the podium with Truswell-Fitzgerald on 15pts and Massey-Hillary and Krstic-Lanati both on 18pts.
