Saturday July 27th, 2024, saw 30 RS Tera and RS Feva sailors, their parents and coaches descend upon Sausalito Yacht Club - a sight not seen since 2008 when SYC hosted the Ida Lewis Doublehand Girls' Champs.

The RS Tera & Feva Pacific Coast Champs 2024 featured classes in the RS Feva, RS Tera Pro and RS Tera Sport.

While most of the sailors came from around the bay (Sausalito YC, Richmond Yacht Club and St. Francis Yacht Club) we were also graced with the presence of four friends from Park City Utah, and one friend from Friday Harbor Washington!

Day 1

The typical San Francisco Bay fog in the morning built into a nice steady breeze in the low teens by midday and our racecourse was tucked far enough into Richardson Bay to have nice flat water. Five races were completed with especially tough competition in the Tera Pro fleet!

The race committee complimented the sailors on their polite behavior on the racecourse and especially appreciated the 'thank you's yelled as sailors finished their last race for the afternoon. I guess the lesson is that a little bit of gratitude (and also not cursing each other out on the start line like the SF Bay j/105 fleet does) goes a long way with getting into the good graces of the race committee!

Day 2

Sunday dawned a little bit sunnier than the day before, but with the same steadily building breeze. The sailors completed three races by 1:30pm and sailors and coaches alike begged the race committee for two more! So, another two races were completed for a total of ten races over the weekend. The group debriefs were led by coach of the year and "supreme minister of all funness" Christian Koules, Junior Program Director, Head Coach of Park City Sailing Association.

A huge thank you to the parents, volunteers, and to the Sausalito Yacht Club for making this happen! Congratulations to our RS Tera Pro Pacific Coast Champ, Sonda Ngongoseke-von Wunsch of St Francis Yacht Club, to our RS Tera Sport Pacific Coast Champ Aidan Sams of Park City Sailing Association, and our RS Feva Pacific Coast Champs John Groff and Max Van Cleve of Richmond Yacht Club!
