If a blue water sailing trip is in your future or in your dreams, Grand Large Yachting (GLY) will help you prepare. The company is bringing its renown educational seminar to the U.S. for the second time on Saturday, October 12, 2024, during the Annapolis Yacht Festival.

Having built a reputation over two decades as ocean-going sailboat builders of leading brands, service specialists and educators, Grand Large Yachting's mission is to help experienced or beginning sailors to realize their sailing dreams in a safe and confident way. The company's passion for the ocean also guides clients to respect the power and vulnerability of the ocean as a natural resource and as the course en route to discovering new horizons.

The one-day course will be held October 12, at the Eastport Democratic Club from 8.30 AM. The event will include engaging presentations, conversations and educational programs over coffee, lunch and beverages.

Going Blue Water Cruising: Is it really an accessible dream?

You probably love seeing images of sailing boats approaching exotic islands, anchoring in crystal-clear lagoons, exploring fjords of overwhelming beauty. Yachts with crews who look happy and deeply connected to the Ocean planet.

You've scanned the classified ads for sailing yachts, envisaging yourself at the helm, heading for the horizon.

But you may have turned that page and said to yourself: This experience isn't for me, it's too complicated, I don't know enough about the sea, you need to be an expert, it's probably too expensive. And you didn't dare to take things any further...

Stop, let's rewind a little!

There's no way you're going to give up on such an intense dream, because (spoiler alert) it's so worth living that you absolutely have to make it come true, and we're going to give you as many keys as possible to get there.

The presenters will address the main topics to consider in long-distance cruising—weather, routes, budgeting, insurance, self-care, provisioning, packing and will help clarify the preparations, answering specific questions and sharing a wealth of experience to transform the dream of sailing into a reality. Among the experts are Ann & Richard, a Canadian couple, they just came back from their 3-years circumnavigation on their Outremer 51. You'll also have a chance to hear the story of Marianne & Markus, currently sailing the North passage and planning to be at the boat show with their Allures 51.9 Castella. Chris Parker will present the main routes and weather trends. An intensive day to collect as many information as possible to start turning the dream into a real project.

First Edition in Miami Last Feb.

Miami welcomed the first US edition of this seminar last february. More than 25 people gathered at the Curated Showroom to hear what the crews of Maïs Uma and Awen had to say. The day provided an opportunity for a wide-ranging discussion, particularly on the distribution of roles on board, the choice of itinerary and the training required beforehand.
