Tabarca Vela de Alicante - Day 2

by Ebury Sailing Team 21 Jul 2024 10:35 PDT

Second day for the Trofeo Tabarca Vela Alicante, one day left to close the Alicante event, marked again by the little wind and, above all, by that emblematic coastal race to the island of Tabarca, with double score and that has always marked a point and apart in the general classification.

One more day, that makes two, the Ebury - Foster Swiss (LN Mar de Alborán) has clearly dominated the ORC 2 fleet in real time in the first leg of the coastal race. Only that little wind has prevented their difference, both in passing through the island and taking the finish line could have been much wider than reflected in the overall results of race 3 and 4, especially the latter.

The AC40rc has made the difference, being first on the island with arrival time at 15.02 hours, while the second, the Cadiz Taboga Cuatro (RCN Cadiz), arrived at 15.09 hours and the Castellon Proalviento Servicios Náuticos (RCN Castellón) closed its passage at 15.14 hours. These times left the Ebury - Foster Swiss as the winner of race 3, third partial victory in Alicante.

After overcoming the island and heading the bows to the finish line, located in the vicinity of the club, the little wind has played against the AC40rc being now the third to take the finish in real time, after the Castellón, a Grand Soleil 40, and the Cadiz with a BH41.

After obtaining the compensated times, it has been the one from Castellón who has scored this partial triumph. A result that allows him to get closer to the Ebury - Foster Swiss by adding a total of 7.5 points, so 5.5 that now has the boat armed by Javier Sabiote, third in this second leg, fourth race in the overall computation.

The Ebury - Foster Swiss closes with optimism this second day, with 1-3 partials, to which are added two partial victories that place him absolute leader in ORC 2 with those 5.5 points with one day and two windward-leeward races to go. In this line, it is more complicated, but not impossible, for Taboga Cuatro, which closes the provisional podium with 9 points.

The AC40rc depends on itself to achieve the first great victory of the season in the framework of the Tabarca Vela Alicante Trophy, after the magnificent fifth place in the SM La Reina Trophy in the RCN of Valencia at the beginning of the month, which would make the team arrive at the Palma event of the Copa del Rey with an extra plus within the team.
