The Ebury - Foster Swiss, under the flag of the Liga Naval Mar de Alborán (Málaga) and armed by Javier Sabiote, has not been able to have a better start in the Alicante event of the Tabarca Sailing Trophy. It has done so in a day marked by little wind and that has been 'decrescendo' throughout the day, although and despite this the race committee has been able to complete the planned program of two races in all classes that were in contention today.
The AC40rc, led by Julio Bernardeau, has shown its best image, with technical races, very worked in all aspects that have allowed to dominate from start to finish the two races in portfolio, both in real time and after obtaining the compensated times.
A complicated day due to the 'weak' wind, to which had to be added the joint start of the ORC 2 with the big ones: ORC 1 with six units. A situation that has forced an extra effort to find the best position on the starting line and in which the Ebury - Foster Swiss has managed to manage it well, allowing it to take position in that first upwind leg to face with guarantees of success the following legs: downwind and then another upwind and downwind, heading for the finish.
Tomorrow, Saturday, second day of the Tabarca Trophy, which is scheduled in the emblematic coastal race to the island of Tabarca, with double score, the first will be in passing through the island and the second in the vicinity of the Alicante club. An unmarked mark is planned for Cape Huerta, except changes, after the start in the vicinity of the mouth of the club, from there and put bow to Tabarca.
Julio Bernardeau, skipper, said: "A very complicated day with little wind and more and more downwind. We also had the handicap of having joint starts with the ORC 1 and ORC 2 class, our class, so we had a lot of traffic and we had to sort out some boats of greater length. Even so, we are very happy with the performance of the boat on this first day.
"Tomorrow is going to be an important day and we hope to continue fighting in every race to try to achieve our goal and that is none other than winning in Alicante, but there is a lot of racing ahead and we must go step by step."
