The Aegean Regatta, a beloved sailing tradition in Greece, returns for its 23rd edition this August!

This year's race boasts a record number of participants eager to navigate the stunning Dodecanese islands.

Established in 2001, the Aegean Regatta is more than just a competition. It's a celebration of Greek island culture and a chance for sailors to explore hidden gems. Each year, the race visits a different archipelago, showcasing the unique beauty of the Aegean.

"The Aegean Regatta isn't just about racing," says Erifyli Vardaki, President of the Open Sea Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Association. "It's about experiencing the vibrant culture and breathtaking scenery of the Aegean islands."

The Itinerary: Racing and Island Hopping (August 17-24)

  • Kalymnos (Aug 17-18): Festivities kick off here with registration, inspections, and a skipper's meeting, followed by the opening ceremony.
  • Nissyros (Aug 19-20): The first race takes sailors from Kalymnos to Nissyros. Enjoy a day off to explore the island and attend a prize-giving ceremony.
  • Tilos and Chalki (Aug 21-22): The journey continues with races to Tilos and Chalki, each followed by a local prize-giving ceremony.
  • Rhodes (Aug 23-24): The final leg leads to Rhodes, where offshore races and the grand closing ceremony with prize-giving will take place.

A legacy of sailing adventure

"The Aegean Regatta is an institution," Vardaki says, reflecting on the event's enduring popularity. "Sailors have been passionate participants since the very first race. This year promises to be the biggest and most exciting Aegean Regatta yet. With a record number of participants and a stunning island itinerary, it's a must-see event for sailing enthusiasts and anyone who loves the magic of the Aegean."
