Leaden skies greeted competitors on the second day of racing (after Monday's Weyborne Estate Pursuit Race, before the Week proper) with damp conditions marking a stark contrast to the usual champagne sailing conditions synonymous with Cowes Classics Week.

However the winds were reliable and the race committee ensured that competitors were treated to the full schedule of racing across all four courses.

Legendary six-time Olympic Gold Medal Coach David (Sid) Howlett OBE was in attendance on the XOD course, keeping a watchful eye on a number of boats, adding to a number of high profile names (including Sir Robin Knox-Johnson and Shirley Robertson OBE) who have enjoyed Cowes Classics Week over the years.

The daily first place prizes were kindly sponsored by Mermaid Gin at the recently extended and refurbished Royal Ocean Racing Club followed by a curry dinner. Others enjoyed a paella dinner at the Royal London Yacht Club.
