The first East Kent Radio Sailing Club Summer series event was held in sunny and breezy conditions. Most of the fleet started on A rigs but later races were sailed with B rigs in an increasingly heavy chop.

Dave Adams started with a win from Peter Jackson. Paul Woodward won the 2nd race from Dave, who then won races 3 and 4, with Alan Hounsell and Peter Jackson in 2nd respectively. Peter won race 5 and then also race 9, both from Dave, who controlled the podium to the end.

The choppy conditions told as Peter's boat started taking in water to give electrical problems and two 'DNC's. Spencer Pope also retired early with a servo problem and Paul Woodward also left to attend to a de-stepped rig on his X362 at Ramsgate.

Andrew Nichols took the opportunity to plug in two excellent second places behind Dave to go with an earlier third. Alan's boat was 'guest sailed' by a prospective new member who did excellently with two third places.

Peter came back dried out with three second places to Dave, too late to challenge him anyway but keeping a small lead on Alan. However Alan had got his B rig tuned to perfection and won races 14 and 16 to draw nearly level with Peter. Second places to Peter's thirds in the last two races left Alan's boat just 1 point ahead of Peter's overall for second, both well behind Dave.

Results:

1. Dave Adams 17
2. Alan Hounsell 36
3. Peter Jackson 37
4. Andrew Nichols
5. Paul Woodward
6. Spencer Pope
7. Rob Maunder
