ILCA 4 World Championship 2024 at Viana do Castelo, Portugal - Opening Day & Practice Race

The ILCA 4 World Championship 2024, the largest junior sailing event in the world, is being held in Viana do Castelo from 23rd to 30th June 2024. There are 51 countries being represented by 427 sailors, 108 coaches, and over 900 supporters.

Viana do Castelo is bursting with smiling faces from around the world, walking around the city, enjoying the local cuisine and the amazing weather at this time of the year.

With a rich heritage that dates back to 1258, Viana do Castelo is a city of profound historical significance. Surrounded by the river Lima and the Atlantic Ocean, this city of 26,000 is a community fully committed to nautical sports activities, a testament to its enduring love for the sea.

The Clube de Vela de Viana do Castelo facilities provide an outstanding base for sailing events, with over 6,000 sqm, 3 slipways, and many volunteers joining the event organization.

The ILCA 4 Youth World Championship officially starts today, with a practice race and a walking parade around the city. All the teams and supporters carried their national flags and colorful equipment.
