53rd Newport Bermuda Race under way: How to follow along

by Newport Bermuda Race 21 Jun 2024 18:33 PDT From 21 June 2024

This afternoon, 162 boats set sail from Newport, racing towards the Gulf Stream and kicking off the 53rd Newport Bermuda Race. They were joined by 4,000 race fans along the shoreline, spectating the first time off Fort Adams.

The first night is expected to be slow as storms affecting southern New England have dampened the wind. It's a race to get away from land and into the next prevailing ocean breeze and Gulf Stream current.

For those not able to catch the action live, a recording of the Race's Starting Line Live Show Powered by Ørsted can be found on the Bermuda Race YouTube channel. Sailing fans can also follow the progress of the race using Palm Beach Motor Yachts online tracker or the YB Races App.

Real-time leaderboard results will be available on BermudaRace.com along with photos, news, and more. Photos fromtoday’s start can be found here.

A video news release is available here.
