29er EuroCup 8 at Aarhus, Denmark

by International 29er Class 19 Jun 2024 16:57 AEST 31 May - 2 June 2024

Euro Cup Aarhus 2024 came to an end with three spectacular days of racing for 68 boats in various conditions, managing 9 races per fleet.

The first day of racing was sailed on a very wet race course, with rain showers passing by throughout the day. Shifty breeze and tough conditions forced the sailors to be on top of their game to situate themselves in the right place at the right time.

Day 2 brought us really great summer conditions, as well with shifty, gusty winds. Day 3 came with amazing summer weather, as well as the well known westerly winds in Aarhus, with breeze coming from over the forest also bringing some challenging shifty and gusty winds to really test the sailors.

All in all, the sailors needed to be sharp and focus hard on the pressure ahead! The local sailors, Nicklas and Mads, sailed a solid regatta, keeping their overall and Men's lead from day 1 all the way to the end of the event. Hanno and Maxi of Germany, as well as Lucas and Mortiz of Germany followed as they put the pressure on sailing a strong last day of the event!

Emmeli and Sofie of Denmark, put on a great show, dominating in the Women's fleet, with Una and Silja of Finland, and Anne and Marie of Denmark, following behind.

Selma and Lukas of Sweden put their game faces on for the last day of racing and climbed their way up the leaderboard to win the Mixed fleet, with Marie and Marius of Denmark, and Esther and Melker of Sweden following behind. In the Under17 fleet all the young sailors did a fantastic job in letting us know what to expect for the coming years. Hanno and Maxi of Germany won U17 Men, Maisa and Alisa of Finland won U17 Women and the local team Ida and Adam of Denmark won U17 Mixed.

A really great job by all the sailors and thank you everyone for coming to Aarhus and supporting for this great pre-Worlds event. A big thank you to the organizing authority, race committee, and all the volunteers for all the support with this event. Thank you to the sponsors that supported us and we look forward to seeing everyone back in Aarhus in August for the 2024 29er World Championships!
