There was a disappointing turnout for Ardleigh Sailing Club's Solo open meeting on 1st June, the forecast strong winds no doubt discouraging both visitors and local sailors.

After being fortified by complementary bacon butties and hot drinks, the fleet enjoyed three back-to-back races in a very gusty force 3-6. Race 1 saw Godfrey Clarke make the early running, closely followed by Steve Ede. Ede slipped into the lead on one of the upwind legs with Clarke finishing second and Phil Sturmer third. Race 2 followed a similar pattern, with the same top three positions.

Ede then headed ashore for a early shower, leaving Clarke to take a comfortable win in the final race followed by Sturmer and Duncan Woods.

Overall Results:

1st Steve Ede, Ardleigh Sailing Club, 2pts
2nd Godfrey Clarke, Fishers Green Sailing Club, 3pts
3rd Phil Sturmer, Brightlingsea Sailing Club, 5pts
4th Duncan Woods, Ardleigh Sailing Club, 7pts
5th Tony Tye, Ardleigh Sailing Club, 11pts
6th Mark Lock, Ardleigh Sailing Club, 14pts
