The first really warm day of the year and Northern Lights were the backdrop for the annual open day and Discover Sailing event. Activities started at low water with Kayaking and SUP taster sessions, when the water arrived sailing taster sessions started.

We welcomed over 100 members of the public to the club. The weather made for perfect sailing a gentle south easterly breeze. The club members volunteered en mass, supporting the visitors, and making sure everyone had a great day. Many people had a go at all the activities on offer. As a volunteer run club the efforts of all the volunteers is essential to making the event a success.

One visitor left the following feedback: "If others gained as much enjoyment as my three grandchildren then indeed it would have been a successful day. Everyone my grandchildren met were most kind and helpful. The cadets helping in the water were outstanding. They couldn't do enough to help and to ensure their charges got on and off the water safely. It really is lovely to see such teamwork, kindness and politeness. Standing back and watching, one could not help but notice the enthusiasm with which all the helpers went about their volunteering."

Thanks to all the members of the club for making the open day such a great success. We are now looking forward to a great sailing season.
