Compliance Certification © National Marine Manufacturers Association

As the leading certification body for the recreational boating industry in the U.S., National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Certification impacts the recreational marine industry worldwide, helping to improve boat manufacturing and ensuring safe, high-quality products for consumers throughout the world.

The NMMA Engineering team is dedicated to product safety and supporting our members as they work towards achieving certification. At this point in the model year, all inspections should have been completed. The only outstanding items should be: Variations Responses — within 30 days of report date/120-day max with requested extension. Exams — must be completed by June 30 of the new model year.

The recreational boating industry is preparing for its highly anticipated annual advocacy event, the American Boating Congress, taking place May 8-10 in Washington, D.C., where leaders from all segments of the recreational boating and fishing industry are invited to gather in the nation's capital to address pressing matters that impact the industry.

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote this week on H.R. 615, the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act. This bill would prohibit federal land management agencies from arbitrarily banning the use of traditional lead tackle on public lands and waters. It would support science-based management and ensure that state fish and wildlife agencies are given the proper authority to inform these decisions. Tell Congress to vote "YES" on the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act today!

Partnerships: Sharrow Marine, a subsidiary of Sharrow Engineering LLC, the industry leader in innovative marine propulsion technology, announced today a significant advancement in its partnership agreement with Australia-based VEEM Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of disruptive, high-technology marine propulsion and stabilization systems.

After months of collaborative design work and testing of SHARROW by VEEM prototype designs on VEEM's 64' Viking test vessel, the companies confirmed that there is sufficient evidence that the key benefits of the Sharrow Propeller over conventional propellers can be replicated for inboard vessel applications. Sharrow and VEEM have verified that the results of the rigorous testing, specifically — improved fuel efficiency, a significant reduction in vibration and noise, improved handling, and excellent reverse thrust — meet the contractual criteria for progression to the next phase in their partnership.

United Yacht Sales, the world's largest yacht brokerage firm with more than 250 yacht brokers, will partner with Aquitalia Yachts as their U.S. dealer. Aquitalia Yachts, designed and built at the Yihong Yachts Shipyard, are luxury flybridge cruising yachts with models from 64 to 95-feet known for their high level of owner customization capabilities.

The YANMAR E-Key system comprises a sleek, lightweight tag, elegantly designed to sit within users' personal key sets. Benefiting from a unique ID, this tag communicates wirelessly with the YANMAR Vessel Control System, activating it by simply pressing against the switch panel.

The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) team announced this month that JD Strong has joined the team as Senior Director of Industry Engagement. With 20 years of executive leadership experience, Strong will spearhead a new RBFF Board-driven charge to support the fishing and boating industries in reducing churn - an increasing concern for participation overall.
