An all-new FD80 strengthens Horizon's lineup in the U.S. Market

by Horizon Yachts 1 May 09:15 AEST

Horizon Yachts welcomed the latest iteration of its most successful high-volume Fast Displacement (FD) Series 80 of motor yachts. Catering specifically to the U.S. market, the FD80 Hull 14 takes the build's reputation for an exceptional blend of style, spacious living areas, and superyacht amenities to the next level.

Maximum Space, Minimalist Style

With a multi-functional layout that further augments the incredible space afforded by this popular high-volume build, this latest FD80 is configured with a split-use skylounge, which extends the outdoor entertainment area on the bridge deck level while maintaining the popular indoor seating area. Guests are accommodated in four large staterooms comprised of a full-beam on-deck master and three large staterooms on the lower deck. The main deck further demonstrates the flexibility of the Cor D. Rover design, which features a stainless-steel frame teak table with convertible functionality on the aft deck, a convertible breakfast/dining table within the salon, and a spacious galley forward that accommodates large-event catering.

Expressions of Washed Wenge Meet Smart Functionality

A key element in the interior style narrative is a fusion of washed wenge wood complemented by grey-white lacquer and accented with stainless steel trim. The skillful use of wallpaper and stonework creates a subtly luxurious and airy ambience, setting the tone for a modern and spacious feel.

From the main deck aft, where the teak coffee/dining table seats up to eight, side decks to port and starboard lead to a side dining/galley entrance or to stairs up to the foredeck, respectively. Large glass doors welcome guests to a spacious L-shaped lounge area with built-in glassware storage in the main salon. The open-plan interior layout sees a spacious living area accompanied by a multi-functional interior dining space that features a convertible dining/breakfast table to starboard that seats three to six guests.

The galley is a chef's delight, featuring a clean, white, and open island with electric roller blinds and a three-seater bar counter. Predominantly in shades of grey and white, when open, this culinary workspace blends seamlessly with the rest of the guest areas. Ample storage space, a full-height food storage cabinet, a 10-person capacity banquet cookware and dish rack, cup rack, and a wine cooler equip the chef for culinary mastery.

Situated forward on the same deck, the full-beam master suite is bathed in natural light from its large windows and immediately conveys subtle luxury with a touch of metallic elegance. The his-and-hers ensuite is situated behind a TV wall, while ample cabinet storage and the washed-wenge ceiling design round off a minimalist aesthetic.

From the main deck, the starboard-side foyer houses the stairwell that leads to the bridge deck above and to the guest staterooms on the lower deck. The wall of the foyer features leather stitching with linear lighting and cleverly conceals a maintenance door. The tempered clear glass stairs create a soothing feel when transitioning to the lower deck, where three plush ensuite staterooms are positioned, including port and starboard VIPs and a forward VIP that can be transformed from a V - berth to a comfortable double bed. A full laundry room equipped with a washer, dryer, and ironing board completes the accommodations.

Aft of the engine room housing the yacht's twin CAT C32A 1,600hp engines, crew quarters for four open aft to the beach club. A thoughtful addition for undisturbed guest privacy are retractable screens and folding doors separating the beach club from the aft crew area.

All Hands on the Entertainment Deck

The bridge deck featuring the split-use skylounge configuration is an enviable space. Black leather and satin-washed wenge create a sophisticated atmosphere in the wheelhouse, which features twin helm chairs and is paired with a Hi-Low table and a comfortable L-shaped sofa designed for various dining modes. To port, a wet bar, three bar stools, and a fold-down TV under the hardtop complete this cozy enclave.

Further aft, an inviting Jacuzzi takes prominence with its own bar counter with stools. Completing this perfect space for relaxation are generous cabinets and a BBQ grill to port. The entire area can be shaded with a sun awning for maximum comfort.

Another signature feature of the FD Series designs, the foredeck area has been maximized for guest enjoyment, with a U-shaped dinette forward of the wheelhouse and fold-up sunpads. This area is also equipped to be shaded with a sun awning.

"We're delighted to bring the new FD Series builds to the U.S. market," said Roger Sowerbutts, Director at Horizon Yacht USA. "Horizon's commitment to developing new models and offering significant customization options ensures our clients can create a masterpiece that perfectly reflects their vision."
