BIA 'Inspiring Inclusion' for International Women's Day!

by Boating Industry Association 8 Mar 2024 11:11 PST

The Boating Industry Association's Women in Boating Committee Chair Tracy Souris would like to extend her warm wishes to all of the exceptional women and supportive men within the boating community this International Women's Day!

The aim of the committee for International Women's Day is to highlight and build awareness of the pathways available to women seeking career opportunities within the boating industry. The BIA also aims to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the inspiring women within our industry and endeavours to encourage more women to get out on the water.

This year, the campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is to "Inspire Inclusion" and the BIA has set out to inspire and educate the industry on the value of women's inclusion. The benefits of creating a harmonious, all hands-on deck industry where inclusion and diversity are truly acknowledged are far reaching and create a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

With a range of initiatives to support their vision, the BIA Women in Boating Committee is seeking support from BIA members wanting to join the effort. Whether a seasoned marine industry professional or aspiring to join the industry, the Committee is putting a call out to marine industry members interested in becoming part of a mentorship program, whether it be as a mentor or mentee.

The BIA is committed to fostering a diverse workforce, to support workforce development and address critical skills shortages, ensuring a robust future for the boating industry. There are vast and exciting career opportunities in the marine industry available; from vessel design and manufacture to sales and marketing, and marina operations.

The BIA is also proud to encourage more women to explore opportunities to embrace the waterway lifestyle and experience recreational boating. Initiatives such as Discover Boating provide a platform for educational resources, including getting your licence and a boat buyers guide. Additionally, the 55th Sydney International Boat Show will provide show-goers with an opportunity to experience products firsthand, seek expert advice and witness on water demonstrations.

Join us in celebrating inclusion and empowerment as we inspire the next generation of females in boating.
