WASZP and Sandefjord Seilforening are delighted to welcome ROCKWOOL onboard as event partner for the WASZP Games 2024.

The Games - taking place in Sandefjord: City of Foiling from 5-10 August 2024 - is shaping up to be one of the biggest foiling events in history, with 180 boats set to compete in an iconic venue.

ROCKWOOL - the global leader in sustainable building materials, best known in the sports world as title partner to the ROCKWOOL Denmark SailGP Team - is a powerhouse of innovation in our sport, and the partnership marks the latest step into foiling for a global brand synonymous with performance and sustainability.

In collaboration with the WASZP Games, ROCKWOOL will deliver a range of activation that will help to take the event to the next level for both competitors and wider stakeholders, as sailors from 18 countries head to the island of Seilerholmen to enjoy five days of world-class racing, social events and learning workshops.

A record-breaking WASZP event

"We are delighted to welcome ROCKWOOL, a major player in the sports world, into the Swarm and we believe that this partnership will help to elevate the event to the next level, whilst showcasing the value that this foiling class has to offer. I know that our sailors will love every moment of it," says Martin Evans, WASZP Class Manager.

"After an incredible EuroCup event last summer, Sandefjord has proven itself as a top-level venue, and having so many entries flood in, in record time, is a reflection of the strength of the class."

Spearheaded by the ROCKWOOL Denmark SailGP Team, launched in 2019, ROCKWOOL has been focused on creating new pathways into the sport, whilst showcasing the importance of putting nature - and the ocean - first.

"As a record-breaking WASZP Games comes to Norway, we're excited to be partnering with what will be a celebration of foiling, and look forward to working with our partners such as One Ocean Foundation to help underline that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand," explains Mirella Vitale, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs at ROCKWOOL.

"In SailGP's Season, we won the Impact League trophy having inspired and engaged thousands around the world with activities spanning themes such as ocean health, inclusivity and diversity - plus delivered the most high-profile Scandinavian event in SailGP's history, the ROCKWOOL Denmark Sail Grand Prix in Copenhagen."

A key step in the foiling pathway

With ROCKWOOL onboard, the event will be supplemented by exclusive WASZP x ROCKWOOL clothing for competitors and guest appearances from ROCKWOOL Denmark SailGP Team athletes, cementing WASZP's longstanding partnership with the SailGP league as a key step in the foiling pathway.

"The City of Foiling warmly welcomes ROCKWOOL to its shores, bringing an exciting new dimension to the upcoming WASZP Games and our sailing club. Our dedicated team of volunteers has already embarked on extensive preparations for this eagerly anticipated event," adds Espen Berg, President of Sandefjord Seilforening.

"The success of such an undertaking requires a tremendous amount of energy and effort, and we are grateful for the invaluable support from key contributors, including the WASZP team, ROCKWOOL, JOTUN, and Nordocks. We eagerly anticipate welcoming everybody to the vibrant atmosphere of Seilerholmen in the near future."

The WASZP class has always been a fun and exciting class to follow and with ROCKWOOL onboard, the media is going to be turbo-charged to deliver fans and sponsors a packed schedule of spectacular foiling content from the ROCKWOOL and WASZP media teams.
