The official registrations for the regatta organized by the RCN of Valencia are closed with 528 sailors representing 29 countries.
The international regatta of the Optimist class will be held in the waters of Valencia from February 28th to March 3rd, four days of competition, one qualifying series and one final.
The 6th edition of the Optiorange Valencia 2024 is already at the starting line, last minute for the 528 sailors from 29 countries. All of them, already at the Race Base of the RCN of Valencia, have four intense days of racing from tomorrow, Thursday, February 29th, until Sunday, March 3rd, with a program of 12 races planned within the framework of a qualifying series and a final series (if a minimum of four races are completed).
High level among the fleet, with countries that are playing much more than the trophy in the capital of the Turia as the Valencian event, for many of them, is valid to form their respective national teams in the two international events of the class: European and World.
The Spanish representatives, among which stands out the Optimist fleet of the RCN of Valencia, start as great favorites and especially Iker Mugica (CN Cambril) who has just demonstrated his excellent level and form, after winning two of the great regattas of the Optimist class in Spain, such as the Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja and Vila Palamos Trophy.
Not far behind is Nikko Palou (RCN Palma) runner-up of Europe 2023, in addition to Joan Domingo of CN Cambrils (2nd in Palamos); Felipe Pachón or Leo Zabell (CNM Benalmadena); Sergio Manzeda (RCMT Punta Umbria); Mateo Carbonell (CN Javea); Marta Ferrando, Pablo Loez or Alexandra Wangdel RCN Valencia.
As for the internationals, the sights will be set on the powerful fleet of the United States, as well as the Italians Mattia Di Martino and Andrea Demurtas, in addition to the Swedish Alexander Forssen in boys. In the women's category, all point to the Ukrainian Olha Lubianska to be in one of the podium places.
A maximum of 12 races are expected to be completed in these four days. The scheduled starting time for the four days has been set at 12:00 noon on the opening day of Thursday and at 11:30 a.m. for the following three days, unless there are any changes.
