JERSEY Electricity have confirmed their continued sponsorship of Gorey Regatta, which this year takes place over the weekend of 13/14 July. Established in 1857, the regatta is an integral part of Jersey's maritime culture.

JE came on board as the new title sponsor last year, opening up a fresh chapter in the story of an historic event that gives sailors of all ages the opportunity to compete in the picturesque setting of Grouville Bay.

'Gorey Regatta stands as not only one of the oldest in the world but also as a vital component of Jersey's rich maritime heritage,' said Adam Caerlewy-Smith, JE's Head of Marketing and Communications.

'Our support for this event reflects our commitment to celebrating our Island's unique cultural legacy and fostering a strong sense of community.'

Attracting entries from St Catherine's Sailing Club, St Helier Yacht Club and the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club as well as the host port, the 167th Jersey Electricity Gorey Regatta will feature races for dinghies, cruising and racing yachts, sports catamarans, dayboats and windsurfers.

It is hoped that yachtsmen from the other Channel Islands and France may also take part, competing against the local crews for the numerous trophies up for grabs.

'Thanks to the ongoing support from our title sponsor Jersey Electricity we will once again be able to offer a full programme of sailing and social events,' said Gorey Regatta Association Captain Justin Horton.

'There will be plenty of action for spectators to see from the pier, including the Gorey to Carteret Rowing Race which will start on the Saturday morning.'

For further information go to www.goreyregatta.org, or follow the regatta on Facebook where you can find photos and news updates.
