Caudrelier crosses Cape Leeuwin and sets an incredible record

Undisputed leader of the ARKÉA ULTIM CHALLENGE-Brest since the South Atlantic, Charles Caudrelier has just passed the latitude of the race's second cape. He passed the most South Westerly tip of Australia at 19:13:52 UTC according to information provided by the race direction. His passage time from the WSSRC record line on the ARKÉA ULTIM CHALLENGE-Brest is 18 days, 5 hours and 43 minutes.

It is difficult to directly compare Caudrelier's performance to that of François Gabart in 2017 with the data for Macif skipper being calculated from a different starting line. Nevertheless, even taking into account the small difference in latitude between these two starting lines (that of François Gabart and that of the ARKÉA ULTIM CHALLENGE-Brest), Caudrelier has passed Cape Leeuwin more than 1 day, 8 hours, 25 minutes ahead of François Gabart's record and is expected to keep gaining in the Pacific Ocean.
