by Flagstaff Marine 23 Jan 2024 23:45 PST

Flagstaff Marine have announced that Steve Austin, often referred to as Mr Multihull, is joining the Flagstaff Marine team where he will be opening up their Far North Queensland operation. Based out of Airlie Beach, Austin will be servicing the local market as well as continuing to provide advice and guidance to his many clients both in Australia and overseas.

Commenting on his new role Austin said

"I am looking forward to working with the Flagstaff team whom I have known for over 20 years. They are a very knowledgeable group and have some fantastic brands. I am especially looking forward to working with the Excess brand and the very innovative Silent Yachts.I will be based in Airlie Beach but as always happy to travel anywhere to assist owners to sell quality brokerage multihulls."

"With over 25 years' experience in multihulls, both new and second-hand, Steve has amassed a unique knowledge of the Catamaran market, both here in Australia and overseas" stated Graham Raspass, founder of Flagstaff Marine. "I first met Steve in 2003 when I undertook a sea trial of a catamaran with him on Sydney Harbour and I'm delighted that he is joining our team".

In his new role Austin will be focusing on the new and exciting Groupe Beneteau EXCESS Catamaran range, and the equally exciting and innovative SILENT-YACHTS range of Catamarans (both of which Flagstaff Marine is the exclusive Australia wide Dealer for) as well as a wide range of second-hand catamarans through our brokerage.

Steve joins the team effective 1 February and will be on board our Excess catamaran display at both this year Sanctuary Cove boat show and Sydney boat show. In the meantime, he can be reached at or Mobile 0467 364 958.

The catamaran market has experienced significant global growth in the last five years. EXCESS, a relatively new brand to the market, has seen its focus on being a fast cruising Catamaran that delivers on the passion and enjoyment of sailing, strike a chord in the market with over 250 having been sold worldwide since its launch just four years ago.

Offering both Standard and Pulse versions, EXCESS has 11, 12 and 14 metre models.

In Australia we already have EXCESS 11s and 12s cruising our local waters and the first example of the EXCESS 14 is due to arrive mid-2024. All models can be delivered Australia wide, or buyers can enjoy a European handover, taking delivery in France with our specialist handover team before cruising the Mediterranean and further field.

In the world of solar powered yachts, SILENT-YACHTS has been the lead innovator and developer of solar powered Catamarans. With their new factories in Italy and a range of models, 60, 62 -3 deck, 80 and 120 they currently have over 23 orders under construction and offer a unique combination of unlimited range, noiseless cruising, minimal maintenance, zero to minimal emissions.
