All set for the 2024 ILCA 6 Women's World Championship at Yacht Club Argentino

All set for the 2024 ILCA 6 Women's World Championship at Mar del Plata, Argentina © Matias Capizzano

From January 3 to 10, 2024, the Yacht Club Argentino will host the ILCA 6 Women's World Championship. The city of Mar del Plata will be the venue for this event, which is co-organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association.

The strong winds of Mar del Plata made their presence felt during the training session on December 29, where several sailors enjoyed winds of almost 30 knots.

This event will serve as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with seven spots up for grabs. 105 competitors from 47 countries will participate, including Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, United States, Slovenia, Spain, Fiji, Finland, France, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Schedule of Activities:

  • Wednesday, January 3: 09:00 to 13:00 and 13:30 to 18:30: Accreditation, Measurements.
  • Thursday, January 4: 09:00 to 11:00: Accreditation, Measurements. 14:00: Preparatory Regatta. 18:00: Opening Ceremony and Cocktail.
  • Friday, January 5: 2 consecutive races (Qualifying Series).
  • Saturday, January 6: 2 consecutive races (Qualifying Series).
  • Sunday, January 7: 2 consecutive races (Qualifying Series).
  • Monday, January 8: 2 consecutive races (Qualification/Final series, if 4 races have been completed).
  • Tuesday, January 9: 2 consecutive races (Qualification/Final series).
  • Wednesday, January 10: 1 Medal Race and 1 Last Race. 18:30 Prize Giving Ceremony and Cocktail.
