Just under six months remain until the starting gun fires on the eagerly anticipated International Paint Poole Regatta 2024 and sailing enthusiasts are gearing up for the most spectacular event hosted to date.

The regatta will be held from May 25th to 27th, 2024 in the breathtakingly scenic Poole Bay and its surrounding waters. The regatta promises a thrilling showcase of sailing prowess and maritime camaraderie, including the GBR IRC National Championship, being held outside of the Solent for the first time in its history.

Poole Harbour, renowned as the largest natural harbour in Europe, is a haven for water sport enthusiasts getting afloat on craft of all shapes and sizes. Its sheltered waters and reliable winds provide the perfect backdrop for the Poole Regatta, making it a must-attend event on the sailing calendar. Organized by the Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole, the regatta's preparations are in full swing, with the dedicated team working tirelessly to ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience for all participants.

One of the highlights of the 2024 Regatta is the prestigious inclusion of the GBR IRC National Championship. This esteemed competition with racing for IRC classes 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 will form a key part of the regatta with semi-professional classes such as the Cape 31's racing as part of the event.

The International Paint Poole Regatta is inclusive of all keel boat sailors, so alongside the IRC racing, classes competing include Performance 40, Sonata (Regional Championship), J80 (2024 Nationals), Sportsboat Class, HP30, J70, QTR Ton Class, J24 (Southern Area Nationals - a 2025 J24 Worlds Qualification Event) and The VPRS Southern Area Championship. Further classes are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Poole Regatta provides a full weekend of activity alongside the competitive racing. A vibrant social calendar has been arranged to ensure participants have a memorable experience both on and off the water.

The Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole first organised a regatta to celebrate the Millennium in 2000, at which more than 50 boats participated. Since then, a biannual regatta has been held, with the range of fleets increasing each year. Evolving into a well-established event, the regatta now attracts between 150 and 200 boats and is firmly established as a prominent fixture in the UK's yacht racing calendar. Competitor entries will open soon, offering sailors from near and far the opportunity to get involved.

Visit pooleregatta.co.uk for more information or follow the regatta on social media.
