The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is excited to announce the launch of its newest tournament, the inaugural El Gouna IGFA Red Sea Championship, scheduled to take place in El Gouna, Egypt, from February 14-17, 2024.

Celebrating the beauty and diversity of the Red Sea, The El Gouna IGFA Red Sea Championship will highlight the skills of anglers pursuing 15 different species of game fish divided amongst weight and release categories including sailfish, swordfish, yellowfin tuna, giant trevally, dogtooth tuna, and more.

With strict adherence to IGFA Angling Rules and sportfishing ethics, an incredible selection of eligible game fish, and a beautiful tournament venue, the El Gouna IGFA Red Sea Championship will be the premier sportfishing tournament in the region.

"The launch of the inaugural El Gouna IGFA Red Sea Championship highlights our continued commitment to promoting ethical angling practices and sportsmanship around the world," said IGFA President Jason Schratwieser. "We are thrilled to bring an event of this caliber to Egypt, where we are fortunate to have an incredibly dedicated group of supporters to help us spearhead our efforts to further the global mission of the IGFA."

The tournament is limited to 30 teams with fishing days taking place on Thursday, February 15th, Friday, February 16th, and the morning of Saturday, February 17th. The awards ceremony will follow on the afternoon of Saturday, February 17th at the stunning El Gouna Marina.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top three anglers and teams, and to the anglers who record the heaviest of the weight category species and the longest of the release category species. Tournament proceeds will support initiatives related to the IGFA's commitment to research and conservation.

The IGFA is encouraging early registration for the tournament, as spots are limited and expected to fill up quickly. The cost of registration is $4,000 USD per team with up to four anglers per team. The registration fee includes boat rental for the duration of the tournament, tournament angler bags, and all food and beverages. A limited number of vessels will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional information on the El Gouna IGFA Red Sea Championship including rules, tournament categories, and registration can be found on the IGFA website at igfa.org/igfa-red-sea-championship.
