Limassol Marina hosted the inauguration of the FAREAST 28R European Sailing Championship, the first international sailing competition for this class in the history of Cyprus.

Freedom Finance Europe is the general partner of the Championship, which is supported by Limassol Municipality and Limassol Marina. The event is organised by the Cyprus International Sailing Club (CISC).

Fifteen teams of sailors from eight countries including Sweden, Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Romania, Israel and Cyprus will compete. The championship programme includes five days of racing with three 40-minute races per day. The event will end on 25 November with a spectacular final race for spectators with the participation of about 150 athletes and the award ceremony.

"We are very pleased to be able to host such a great event. This is the first time that the European Championship in this class of yacht is being held in Cyprus and it is a great honour for all of us. I hope this is the beginning of a great sailing history for Cyprus", said Olga Milko, Business Development Director of Freedom Finance Europe, speaking at the opening ceremony.

Among the participants of the championship are two Freedom Finance Europe teams, Freedom Sailing 1 and Freedom Sailing 2, who have repeatedly taken prizes in the Cyprus National Sailing Championships.

This is the second major international sporting event that Freedom Finance Europe is organising in Cyprus this year. In May, the company supported the fourth and final round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix in Nicosia. Freedom Finance Europe is also involved in organising other socially important national projects in the fields of sport, culture and business.
