Supporting its drive to make boating more sustainable, MDL Marinas has partnered with its tenant, SE Yachts, to become the Official Marina Partner for the Candela C-8 in the UK.

Based at MDL's Hamble Point Marina, a prime location for marine businesses on the River Hamble, SE Yachts recently became the exclusive UK representative for Candela, the pioneering Swedish hydrofoiling electric boat manufacturer.

"With MDL Marinas leading the charge to support electric boating with the addition of Aqua superPower fast charging facilities at its marinas, this exciting new partnership is a natural fit for the 100% electric Candela C-8," says Alasdair Marshall, Director at SE Yachts.

"MDL's support will enable us to maximise the promotion of this innovative all-electric vessel to the UK market, highlighting the advances in electric boat manufacture and promoting a more environmentally way to get out on the water.

"Candela really pushes the technological limits of boating, with the Candela C-8 able to travel 60 NM at 23 knots thanks to hydrofoil technology and Candela's battery collaboration with EV-maker Polestar. And with its closed front cabin, it makes the perfect day-cruiser with the option for an overnight stay."

In 2021, MDL partnered with Aqua superPower to become the first marina group to install electric boat chargers and offer a rapid electric boat charging solution. The partnership with the Candela C-8 is another stride forward in MDL's mission to become the UK's most sustainable marina group.

"We're delighted to be partnering with our tenant SE Yachts and the Candela C-8," says Tim Mayer, Sales and Marketing Director at MDL Marinas.

"As well as founding the Green Tech Boat Show for marine businesses to showcase their green innovations, we've invested heavily in creating an electric charging corridor to support the evolution of electric boating. Now it's time to take the next step and support the manufacturers and dealers who are producing and marketing craft designed to reduce the impact of boating on the marine environment. We look forward to seeing our customers and potential owners enjoying the phenomenal Candela C-8 out on the water."

SE Yachts is hosting a series of test 'flights' on the Candela C-8 on the 23 and 25 November 2023 from Hamble Point Marina, and 2 December 2023 in Lymington. For more information or to book your slot, visit seyachts.com/news-events
