ARC+ 2023 is delighted to have well-known and respected ocean sailor, 'Stokey' Woodall return again to present a variety of workshops and seminars. Over the years, Stokey has taught, advised, encouraged and helped thousands of yachtsmen during their blue water adventures, especially in all aspects of celestial navigation and weather.
On Monday, over 50 ARC+ 2023 participants gathered by the Las Palmas Marina east wall to watch Stokey's Sextant Workshop. Stokey is extremely passionate about celestial navigation and has completed 27 transatlantic crossings using just a sextant to navigate.
During his seminar, he discussed how to buy a sextant and gave useful tips on how to check it and set it up. His lectures are available to download each day using the QR code in the ARC+ shop.
Iain Brown from Sea Hayes said the workshop was "very interesting." As a master mariner, he aims to teach his crew the art of celestial navigation while sailing across the Atlantic and found Stokey's tips a great reminder.
