Alinghi Red Bull Racing is back in the quest to regain the world's oldest international sporting trophy - after winning the America's Cup twice in 2003 and 2007.

The Swiss team sailed multihulls after the 2010 Deed of Gift challenge - and stayed out of the Cup in the multihull era from 2010 to 2017, but used the opportunity to develop a sailing team of Swiss nationals, who now form the core of the team.

After seeing the development of the AC75, the decision was taken to go again, and the Swiss became one of two new teams in the 2024 America's Cup.

This is the first part of a series on Alinghi Red Bull Racing - how the team began, acquiring a boat, moving to Barcelona, the first challenges - narrated by Silvio Arrivabene, co-General manager and Head of Technical Operations. He was previously with Alinghi from 2007-2010, and with American Magic for the last America's Cup from 2017 - 2021.
